Women, Men and Daily Life in the Late Ottoman Empire: Healthcare Practices
This lecture will concentrate on paradigms of Jewish studies in the past and today focusing on the human body and healthcare.
Are we only "the people of the book?” Or perhaps also people of the body? Those questions will stand at the core of this lecture and we will analyze them concentrating on daily practices, ritual performances and healthcare practices among Judeo-Spanish Jewry in the late period of the Ottoman Empire.
